I had never even heard of Sorrento before my senior year trip. Until then, my travels had stayed within the Caribbean, places that felt familiar and connected to home. Arriving in Italy was the first time I felt the world open up in front of me. Everything about Sorrento felt new, from the winding streets to the cliffs overlooking the sea.

What surprised me most was the vast amount of information to absorb. The colors of the buildings against the water, the scent of lemons in the air, and the way the city slowed down in the evenings all left me in awe. I was discovering that the world was so much bigger, richer, and more layered than I had imagined.

As my senior year came to a close, Sorrento became a quiet teacher. It showed me that there will always be places I have never heard of that hold beauty and meaning once I experience them. More than a trip, it became the moment that sparked my curiosity to keep exploring and learning, no matter where I go next.
